We all have things we love about Guild Wars 2, places that make us cheer out and say “yes, this is my ultra-mega place!” We all have classes, abilities, and features we’re passionate about, either negatively or positively. This is a place to share all that. Once a week I’ll be raising a Guild Wars 2 question to the community– hopefully an interesting one– and we’ll share our opinions. I’ll start off with my opinion just to get the ball rolling, but these questions will not have any right or wrong answers, so feel free to argue with me to your heart’s content!

So, The Lost Shores starts today! Some exciting stuff heading our way. I must say– I’m pleasantly impressed with ArenaNet’s content release schedule thus far. At any rate, The Lost Shores has some nifty stuff in store for us, including a one-time world event, which can sometimes be the most enjoyable events in an MMO and a new dungeon made out of mini-dungeons that seems like an awesome way to spend an evening with friends. The video for Fractals of the Mists is simple and quite interesting because it displays the fact that each fractal will be entirely different as far as theme and environment go.

This whole fractal system jives with me well, because I’m a sucker for random surprises in MMOs. I enjoy facing the unknown– much more so than I enjoy repeating the same few events, fights, and dungeons over and over again. Sure, random surprises can sometimes mean death with nasty, sharp teeth, but that’s half the fun of the unknown. New challenges mean having to figure out what works, what doesn’t work, how to soften the edges, and how to claim victory.

The best reward from beating a tough, new encounter comes from not the loot (though phat loots are always welcome), but the fact that when things got rough, we were able to rise above. Granted, even fractals will eventually get repetitive after doing so many, but the premise is one that I definitely have hope for.

This update will also be adding the new Ascended loot feature, which sounds intriguing, some changes to the dungeon loot system, and new PvP goodies, including a new PvP map. All in all, good stuff, but I’ll admit that the feature I’m most looking forward to is the Fractals of the Mists. Bring the fractal exploration on!

What are you most looking forward to in The Lost Shores? What’s going to be your first goal when the update launches? Oh, and if you’re already diving into the new stuff, what was your first goal? Content updates are pretty awesome, overall, but what’s that first thing of utmost importance? Share your thoughts in the comments section below!
